Up to 120 jobs are to be lost at Kepak in Cork.
In a statement issued yesterday Kepak say that they are phasing out their slow cooked meat division, and had taken the decision to discontinue their supply of slow cooked product to the UK on a phased basis earlier this yea.
The processing facility at Watergrasshill employs close to 600 people, and the Echo report that workers were informed of possible redundancies a number of months ago.
It’s thought that 140 people are employed in the slow cooked division, with 20 staff remaining to work as a skeleton crew as operations in the division are wound down.
