NPHET is to consider a reduction in the isolation period for close contacts when it meets tomorrow.

Coalition leaders are seeking a recommendation due to Omicron’s impact on services and industry, with many businesses dealing with staffing shortages.

The issue’s also impacting the health system, with hospitals being urged to redeploy staff and prioritising urgent care.

Sinn Fein health spokesperson, David Cullinane, says the government needs to take all necessary measures to deal with the crisis in the health system.
