A 30-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a man who died following an attack in the city centre.
Aaron Babbington of Churchfield Avenue in the city appeared at Cork District Court today.
Babbington was charged with the murder of 32-year-old Midleton native Jason Butler on the Grand Parade in Cork City on June 14th last.
Jason Butler died at Cork University Hospital two days after the bottle attack and is survived by three brothers and a sister.
Sgt Pat Lyons told Judge Mary Dorgan that the DPP had directed trial by indictment at the Central Criminal Court.
The DPP has consented to Babbington going forward to the Court on a signed plea of guilty.
Bail cannot be granted at the district court when the charge is murder.
Judge Dorgan remanded Babbington in custody to appear at Cork District Court via video link on December 12th
