4 boys from Killdorrery and Glenahulla in Mitchelstown have been rewarded for their bravery after helping a man with a concussion in the Ballyhoura mountains.
The boys aged between 10 and 12 were on a biking trail last November when they saw a man flip over the handlebars of his bike and hit his head.
Gardaí, South Eastern Mountain Rescue, and the Air Ambulance Service thanked the boys for their bravery today at their schools for guiding them to the scene.
Speaking to RedFM News, Luke, Bobby, Joe and Ciarán describe what happened:
"We were cycling down the track and a man he went over the handlebars, he hit his head and got concussed."
"We ran down to him we got water and sprinkled it on his face and called 112."
"We saw the helicopter come down and it was hovering around the accident and it found a spot to land."
"Then the ambulance came and I directed them up with the machinery."
Evan Mahon who was rescued from the Ballyhoura Mountains still has no memory of the accident.
Speaking to RedFM News, Evan says he's lucky the four boys were there:
Without their bravery and keeping their level, it's very easy to panic in that situation. I couldn't be any more grateful at all."
