40 percent of Gaza's population is at risk of famine as Israel continues to prevent the entry of much-needed aid trucks to enter the enclave.
The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees is warning Gaza is grappling with catastrophic hunger, as it reiterates calls for a humanitarian ceasefire.
Hamas Spokesman Osman Hamdan says women, children and the elderly are among those who are starving to death:
"People there are facing starvation, which has started to ensue. This matter has now reached a stage where many people are dying because of starvation, including women, children, and elderly citizens".
