The nationwide survey by the Irish Business Against Litter group reported that the majority of areas studied didn't meet standards of European norms.
Areas where people would visit and gather were targeted in the survey of 32 coastal spots.
Cork Harbour at Blackrock Castle and White Bay in Cork were recorded as the most heavily littered areas. Kinsale, Bantry and Castletownbere also all fell short of the clean status in the latest survey
