Roisin Stakelum says she has had to shelve plans to start a new life in Australia after she was the victim of a head on collision last Summer
She sustained life altering injuries when the car she was driving was struck by a stolen car driven by a teenager at speed, the wrong way down the M8 motorway near Mitchelstown
A 17-year-old was sentenced to four years of detention for the incident, in which 16-year-old front seat passenger Johnny Foley lost his life.
Speaking on The Neil Prendeville Show, Roisin says while she is grateful to be alive, she regularly relives the moment of impact
"Even a loud noise can trigger it and I will remember what happened and it's almost like I am back in the car. I remember there was a guard at the window and I remember the paramedics and a lot of flashing lights. I actually thought my memory was strobe lights but then afterwards it was night time so it was dark and there was so many emergency lights. So I just remember all the flashing lights"
