People in Ireland are drinking less alcohol for health reasons.

Alcohol consumption was down 6% last year and a further 10% his year according to the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland .

The industry has also been hit hard by Covid 19 restrictions and staffing problems.

Patricia Callan from Drinks Ireland says health and fitness is impacting sales.

"We've experienced a 30% decline in alcohol consumption in the last 30 years.

"There's obviously a much greater move to health and wellbeing, and the industry is responding with a range of no and low alcohol products on offer along with new innovative products as well.
