Alcohol continues to be the most problematic substance at treatment centres in Cork.

Figures from the Health Research Board show over 650 people were treated for problem alcohol use across the county last year.

Speaking to RedFM News, Brian Duncan from Cork treatment centre Coolmine says alcohol remains the biggest problem when it comes to addiction:

"In 2023, alcohol represented 45% of our referrals into services in Cork, and the previous year was 47%. So that it continues to be the most problematic substance in terms of presentations at drug and alcohol services."
