Alcohol is the substance for which people seek treatment the most in Cork
The Health Research Board found there has been a rise in the number of people presenting for help with addiction issues
Cocaine is the most commonly reported problem, followed by cannabis, heroin and anti-anxiety tablets.
Speaking to RedFM News Mick Devine an addiction counsellor with the Tabor Group says they are starting to see people presenting with an alcohol and cocaine problem
"People might have an alcohol problem that they don't really know about. It's kind of hidden, or it hasn't really presented itself in any problematic kind of way yet. And then as a result of the alcohol use, the cocaine use becomes part of the profile and that then escalates or accelerates the problems related to substance misuse and causing people to come looking for help"
