An American pensioner, charged with allegedly using passports in the names of two dead babies, is expected to face additional passport fraud charges.

Gardaí say they are satisfied that the man is neither Philip Morris nor Geoffrey Warbrook - the two names on the passports allegedly seized.

In September, Randolph Kirk Parker was arrested at the Passport Office on the South Mall, in Cork city.

In November, he was charged with using the names of two deceased babies, born in the 1950s, to obtain passports.

He refused to tell Gardaí his real name, but they were eventually able to work out the 72-year-old's true identity - with help from the FBI, US Embassy and Interpol.

Gardaí sought a four-week adjournment saying there "is a strong likelihood of additional charges".

These charges could include providing false information or documents at the passport office, on an earlier date.
