An elderly man has died in a housefire in Cork City

The fire was contained to one room in the house and had extinguished by the time the time it was discovered.

Second Officer with Cork City Fire Brigade Victor Shine outlines what happened:

"We received a call to a housefire at Grange Cottages in Douglas. Three units of Cork City Fire Brigade responded to find there had been a fire in the ground floor at the back of the premises and unfortunately there was one male casualty pronounced deceased at the scene from the incident."
