Around €100,000 of damages have been reported from one of the shops that was targeted in a series of arson attacks yesterday.
An investigation has been launched by Gardaí after customers had to be evacuated from five retail stores in the city.
TK Maxx, Lifestyle Sports, Superdry, Next and Boots were all targeted when an accelerant was used to light stock on fire in each store.
Speaking to RedFM News, Second Officer with Cork City Fire Brigade, Victor Shine says the damage was mainly from smoke:
"It could be in excess of €100,000 euros - not from flame damage, but from smoke damage. They won't be able to sell stock after the contamination soit's a huge knock on effect to that store going forward".
