The latest report from Daft shows rent inflation in Cork has increased by almost 12% compared to last year, with renters now paying an average of €2,005.
Rent in the county has increased by almost 9% to an average of €1,500 euro, while nationally the average rent is now over €1,920.
Author of the report Ronan Lyons says supply outside of Dublin has dropped off dramatically:
"If we look at how many homes that would have been available to rent, say the average across the late 2010s, you're typically talking something like 500 homes available to rent at any point in time across Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford. But on the first of August this year, there were just 151 homes."
