A hotel owner in Clonakilty says tourists feeling the pinch aren’t spending as much while on holiday this summer.
The tourism and hospitality sector has been calling on the Government to reintroduce the 9 percent VAT rate as businesses struggle with inflation, staff wages and energy costs.
Speaking to RedFM News, Tom O’Donovan of O'Donovan's Hotel in Clonakilty says it’s been a challenging year
"There's a lot of things happening together, and there are little negative things at the moment - poor season, weather wise, the vat rate is still at 13%, which is too high. All these increases we've had over the last six months, especially food, has gone up, drink. This is a service industry, so with all these increases, it's just a challenging year"
