It comes as the company shifts to climate friendly energy.
Around 550 of the roles have been recruited over the last 18 months with 885 more set to be created between now and 2026.
The company says the roles will be mostly in the midlands and will include jobs in renewable energy, recycling infrastructure and carbon storage.
Bord na Móna estimates that by 2030, it will be able to provide a third of Irish homes with renewable energy.
