Business owners in the city say they need to be included in flood relief plans.

The City Council has confirmed work will commence on the Morrison's Island Flood Relief Scheme next year.

Eileen Domiati who owns Dulce Bun House on Oliver Plunket Street says she spent the whole of Jazz weekend worrying her business would flood again.

Speaking to RedFM News, Eileen says water also flows from the drains onto the streets:

"People who've been in business for a while on the streets will know where's the water is coming from. The evening that I stood on the end of Marlboro St. onto South Mall, it wasn't only coming from Morrison's Island. That's why I have it in my head that sorting out Morrison's Island would not be the issue. Where else is the water rising from? Where are we getting this volume of water on the street?"

In a statement to RedFM News, the City Council says the new flood relief scheme for Morrison's Island will include water drainage outfalls at both Morrison’s Quay and Father Mathew's Quay
