Business owners in the city say shop theft has increased drastically in the last 5 years.
Businesses say that money skimming has also become hugely problematic where professionals work in pairs to cheat their change from the register.
From tomorrow there will be more Garda presence on city streets which business owners have welcomed.
Speaking to RedFM News, Miriam Ray from Sheena’s Boutique says having more Gardaí nearby to help with theft is badly needed:
"Theft has definitely increased in the last 5-7 years, for us money skimming is a big thing, distraction where two people will come in, somebody else might pop in and take advantage of that."
