Cork City’s ban on private cars using the main street every afternoon, should be extended for longer hours, according to a Green Party councillor.
The so-called Pana ban runs on St Patrick's St from 3:30pm to 6pm every day to allow buses to move through the city.
However there are calls to extend it to mid-mornings also.
Councillor Oliver Moran says it will follow other measures to reduce the number of cars travelling through Cork city.
"During Covid in Cork we did a big roll out of pedestrianisation in the city centre, that has had a positive effect on businesses and on liveability in the city.
"So there's other positives to go along with this. It is about creating a liveable city and it's about creating a bus service that works for everyone."
