Early Childhood Ireland is raising serious concerns about funding as creches reopen across the country today.
It's calling on the Government to double investment in childcare by 2028 and to publish a plan to achieve this in Budget 2022.
Its members are also reporting more staffing issues as workers seek out better pay and working conditions in other sectors.
Director of Policy with Early Childhood Ireland, Frances Byrne describes the concerns.
"Early Childhood Ireland's main concern as creches reopen all around Ireland today, and those that have stayed open for summer camps will open today welcoming new children for the 2021/22 year.
"We're concerned because we have been hearing from members all around Ireland with growing concerns about staffing."
