The City's Lord Mayor is calling for action to be taken on the site of a derelict former convent in the city.
A number of northside councilors have called on the City Council to enact a compulsory purchase order on the Good Shepard Convent in Sundays Well
A fire in the building Friday night was the fifth recorded in recent years.
Speaking to RedFM News, Lord Mayor Cllr Dan Boyle says although the process is not easy, he would encourage the purchase:
"The City Council is limited in resources. Compulsory purchase requires you to go through market value, prices, it's not straightforward, and it's not quick and easy. But if it can be done, and is able to be done quickly. I certainly would encourage it as a Lord Mayor, and I think that would be the view of all the elected members of the council as well",
