Fellow Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor has called her "outstanding" while Michael Carruth says he's "so happy and proud".
Local councillor Anthony Flynn says she's a role model for young people in Dublin's north inner city:
"She wears her heart on her sleeve she always has, she's a role model for and young people in the inner city, she has been for a very very long time, you know, the atmosphere up there was tense we all knew that, you know, Kellie what once we knew Kellie was gone, into that final today, we knew she was going to come home with gold, you know, so it's unbelievable, and the whole of Ireland, you know, not just the North-East or Inner City."
