Cork City Council has agreed an expenditure budget of €292 million for next year for essential services, an increase of nearly €24 million on this year
The main contributors to the rise in the budget are extra funding for homeless services, an increase of nearly €11 million in housing funding and a rise in payroll of €8.2 million.
At last night's meeting the Council's Chief Executive warned inflation has driven Cork’s city annual boundary compensation payment to over €15 million which is no longer sustainable
Under the terms of the boundary extension legislation, the city must pay an annual index-linked contribution to Cork County Council for a minimum 10-year period.
