Taxi drivers across Cork city say a lack of buses and heavy traffic is having an impact on them and their passengers.
Bus Éireann is ramping up a driver recruitment campaign in the city after hundreds of passengers were left stranded at bus stops over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Taxi drivers say their passengers are constantly flagging them down during rush hour traffic if buses don't turn up - which means people who need taxis to get to hospitals or other appointments can't get one.
Speaking to RedFM News Dermot Canning who drives a taxi across Cork says the simple solution is the allocation of more buses
"The problem that we see is that people are getting buses and they're not frequent enough, then they have to take the taxi because they have deadlines. Then unfortunately, the people that actually do require taxis to drop them to hospitals and stuff like that, from town, the taxis are not available. So then it would appear, that there's a shortage of taxis but it's definitely a shortage of buses"
