It's claimed there is serious division amongst the coalition parties, on how to replace the TV licence fee.
It's reported a number of options are being considered, including direct exchequer funding, a media levy or a charge of up to 15 euro on household bills.
Despite losses of 19 million euro in unpaid licence fees last year, the Tánaiste Micheál Martin's indicated the current system will remain intact “for some time yet".
Political Correspondent with the Business Post Conal Thomas says we're a long way from finding a solution:
"Given the current division within the coalition over what decision to take, and how the future reform looks like, and given the Tánaiste's soundings same things, even if they land on something, the time it takes for legislation to pass through the rafters, I believe would raise a serious question that whatever final decision they land on on what the option is, that will be followed through by the next government.
