There's concern the pandemic is leading to an escalation in childhood obesity
rates.Doctors believe the closure of schools and lockdowns is impacting children's access to healthy meals and physical activity.
Latest figures from the WHO show 27 percent of Irish boys and 20 percent of Irish girls are overweight.
Weight loss expert Dr Eva Orsmond says childhood obesity in Ireland is becoming normalised.
"We don't really remember how skinny children used to be normal, because so many children and adults are overweight and obese.
"So we think it's normal to have a little bit of a tummy, and it's normal to have that plumpness.
"But in reality children should be skinny and agile and so on."
