An auctioneer in the city doesn't expect house prices to go down anytime soon.

The average price for a second hand three bed semi detached house in the city has gone up by 1.3 percent with the average property now €385,000.

Meanwhile in the county the average price of a property is €227,000 according to a new report by the Real Estate Alliance.

Speaking to RedFM News, Micheal O'Donoghue from R-E-A O’Donoghue & Clarke on Cook Street says the Government need to build more social and affordable housing:

"I don't think there's going to be any change, I think this demand is going to roll into next year, and the trend is going to continue, and I don't see any way out of this unless the Government get back into building social and affordable housing."
