Cork Chamber says the long-term gain of works in the city will outweigh the disruption.

Upgrade works are underway at Bishops Lucey Park, Tuckey Street and South Main Street with traffic diversions in place on Grand Parade.

Meanwhile the Morrison’s Island flood protection scheme will begin soon along with the redevelopment of the Crawford Art Galley and UCC’s Cork University Business school.

Speaking to RedFM News Owner of Velo Coffee Roasters and President of Cork Chamber Rob Horgan says these upgrade works are essential for the city to thrive:

"We're at a lucky time where there is money available for capital projects in the city to see the Morrison's Island development take place. yes, there will be disruption. when you look at the work going on at Bishop Lucey park, the plans for it are fantastic. All of these things come with a little bit of disruption, but the long term gain will outweigh it significantly."
