A Cork doctor specialising in Aesthetic Medicine says the Government needs to regulate dermal fillers.
Three people needed emergency treatment in Cork and Dublin in the past week - after suffering complications from having the fillers injected into their skin.
The substance used to make cosmetic filler can cause a stroke or blindness if injected into a blood vessel.
Dr Patrick Treacy of the Ailesbury Clinic in Douglas told RedFM News only doctors should qualify to inject dermal fillers:
"The cases that were actually all ours, one from Paris, one from Albania and one from Ireland - the one from Ireland had spent the last two weeks over Christmas in hospital with problems. We've been pushing the government for quite a while to regulate this industry so that doctors and nurses should be the ones doing, it rather than beauticians".
