A Cork driving school says long waiting lists at test centres is causing more learner drivers to risk driving unaccompanied.
There is currently a wait of around 10 to 12 weeks to take a driving test around the country according to the Road Safety Authority.
Gerry Dwyer from Dwyers Driving School in the city told RedFM News that the back log needs to be cleared so drivers can get their full license:
"They'll get the waiting list times down to three months. and what they will do they let go the actual testers, because they're not they're on temporary contracts. the waiting list will go back up again. they just need to keep employing testers and once they get the wait list down to 10/12 weeks, keep it there."
