Cork has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country against the measles.
The disease is highly infectious and one person infected with measles can spread it to approximately 15 others.
The HSE is to roll out a measles catch up programme as five cases have been confirmed in Ireland so far this year.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork GP Dr John Sheehan says it is easy to check with your GP if you have been vaccinated against the disease.
"And if people aren't sure if people get an extra dose a third dose of MMR vaccine that has been shown to be fine and as has no adverse effects of getting a third dose of the vaccine."
