A Cork hotelier says the drop in the number of people booking weekends away is having an impact on the industry
The President of the Irish Hotels Federation Michael Magner says he has concerns about the outlook for the summer as bookings are down by 3%
He has also criticised the Government announced business supports which he says fall far short of what is required to support hotels dependent on food services
Speaking to RedFM News Michael Magner says people are being cautious about how they spend their disposable income
" People have less money in their pockets and have to be careful about how they spend their disposable income left money in their pockets, and you know I wouldn't blame anybody for that. So maybe what we're seeing is that the typical annual vacation for a family, the two weeks abroad or the two weeks around Ireland are broken up, and is not sacrificed, but maybe the weekends away and that leisure piece is probably you know not as frequent"
