Cork Simon says any potential pathways out of homelessness are being shut down one by one.

A recent report by the charity found that 40 properties in the city and 37 in the suburbs were available to rent but just two homes were within HAP rates.

545 people were homeless in Cork at the end of last year.

Speaking to RedFM News, Paul Sheehan from Cork Simon says people in emergency accommodation have no options:

"Any potential pathways out of homelessness are being shut down one by one, the private rental sector was always the way out of an emergency shelter quickly and that's been shut off, particularly for people in single households, it's madly frustrating."
