Cork Simon says children being born into homelessness is like something from the Dickensian era.

183 children were accessing emergency accommodation across Cork and Kerry in July.

The charity which helps people out of homelessness is calling on the Government to urgently intervene in the crisis.

Speaking to RedFM News, Paul Sheehan from Cork Simon says being born into homelessness has a lasting impact on a child

"The longer those children remain stuck in emergency accommodation, the bigger the impact it will have on them in their teenage years and young adult years. Children being born into homelessness is like something out of a Dickensian era again, that's going to have long, lasting impact, not just on the children who were born into homelessness, but on the families as well"
