10 schools across Cork have been included in this year's Safe Routes to School Programme.
Today, the Minister for Transport, Hildegarde Naughton announced the 108 schools that will be included in the programme.
It aims to increase the number of students who walk or cycle to school and alleviate congestion at the school gates by improving walking and cycling facilities.
Over 37,000 students across Ireland will benefit from the safer infrastructure including Grattan Street, Beaumont, Baltydaniel, Coachford and Fermoy.
€20m has been allocated for the projects.
