The new Gardaí are part of a class that passed out from Templemore Garda College on Friday and will be assigned to Gurranabraher, Anglesea Street and Togher Garda Stations.
A high visibility unit is due to be rolled out shortly to support front-line units on both sides of the city, with a primary focus on targeting people involved in assaults, drugs, theft and anti-social behaviour.
Senior officers say 24 new Gardaí have been transferred to the city since the start of the year.
