12 Year Old Girl Remains in Hospital Following Attack in North Cork

A 12-year-old girl remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital after a home was attacked by a group of men in North Cork.

Five men forced their way into the property on the New Line in Charleville at around 11.30pm on Monday night after causing damage to a Volkswagen car parked outside. Further extensive damage was caused to the house.

The girl was taken to Cork University Hospital, but later transferred to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin, where it's believed she's being treated for a fractured skull.

The scene of the incident was preserved and a technical examination has since been conducted by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward or who may have been in the the New Line area in Charleville on Monday between 10.30pm and 12.00am midnight.

Additionally, any persons with camera footage (including dash-cam footage) from the area at the time are encouraged to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
