13 people have reported having their drinks spiked in the city Garda Division in the past 6 weeks.
The Irish Examiner reports that Chief Superintendent Tom Myers told a recent meeting of the Cork City joint policing committee that people should contact Gardaí immediately if they suspect they have been spiked so a blood test can be arranged.
The meeting heard that victims may experience difficulty speaking and concentrating, a loss of balance confusion and visual disorientation.
There have been 62 suspected spiking reports made to Gardaí across the country since the start of the year.
