15 Spanish sailors landed in Castletownbere this morning after their fishing trawler burst into flames.
The crew of the Nuevo San Juan were fishing off the south west coast when they had to send out a distress call after a fire had spread from the engine.
Another Spanish trawler was sailing nearby and was able to rescue the 15 people who were fishing for hake and the crew watched the trawler sink into the water.
The rescue boat set out for Castletownbere yesterday and arrived at around 7'o clock this morning, 22 hours later, according to the Irish Mirror.
No one was injured in the incident and the crew will travel back to Spain later today or tomorrow.
