The Book Of Lismore was captured in the 1640s and was taken to Lismore Castle in Co Waterford where it was re-discovered in 1814.
The book was created in Kilbrittain and contains several texts including the only surviving translation in Irish of the travels of Marco Polo and the tale of mythical hero Fionn mac Cumhaill.
UCC will hold a special event on their website at 11am this morning to mark the handing over the book, which they say will be eventually displayed in a planned 'Treasures Gallery' in the Boole Library.
