A 16-year-old girl who has lived with a severely dislocated hip since she was four says she feels completely forgotten by the HSE.

Surgeons in Ireland say they can’t operate on Katie Byrne due to the complexity of the procedure, forcing her family to try to fundraise €300,000 for surgery in the US.

The Transition Year Student who has cerebral palsy is now concerned that she will not get the help she needs before she moves from the children’s service in less than two years time.

Katie says she is extremely frustrated by the lack of progress:
