186 schools and youth centres in Ireland have been offered to take part in the new ‘Creative Schools’ initiative, 19 of which are in Cork.
The 2 year project hopes to highlight the importance that schools and youth centres put on creativity and their ambition to celebrate creative thinking.
In addition, students taking part will develop new ways to reinforce creative activity and wellbeing.
Among the Cork schools and youth centres taking part are Bweeng NS, Coláiste Éamann Rís, Castlemartyr NS, Mayfield Community School, and Curraghagalla NS.
Speaking about the new initiative, Minister for Education Norma Foley TD said:
“I am delighted to welcome the 186 schools that are coming together to join the Creative Schools initiative 2022. I would like to welcome these new schools into this exciting initiative, and I look forward to seeing how these creative, colourful and captivating projects develop over the coming two years. Through Creative Schools the Department of Education supports critical thinking, cognitive and emotional wellbeing, encouraging a creative environment, without boundaries within the educational space.”
