Two people have been arrested after a woman in her twenties was seriously assaulted on the Grand Parade in Cork City Centre.

'Gardai were alerted to the incident on Grand Parade in Cork City at around ten past 8 and attended the scene, along with emergency services. The woman in her 20s was taken to Cork University Hospital, where her injuries are described as serious but non-life threatening. A man aged in his 20s and a woman aged in her teens were both arrested in relation to the incident. They're being held at Bridewell and Togher Garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Gardai say an examination of the scene has been carried out and CCTV from local businesses will be reviewed.They're appealing for anyone who was in the Grand Parade area last night and has any information to contact Angelsea Garda Station.'
