A special school principal says any teething problems in the pilot to return therapists to schools should be ironed out before more schools come onto the scheme.
St. Killian's Special School and East Cork Community Special School have been added to phase 2 of the programme to return speech and language therapists, physios and OT'S to classrooms.
4 Cork schools included in the pilot have had no therapeutic services yet.
Speaking to RedFM News, Principal of St.Paul’s Special School in Montenotte, which is in the pilot programme, Anne Hartnett says special school principals haven't been listened to:
"I'm delighted for other schools. I think it should be rolled out to every other school that requires it in the country. However, I would have thought that they would look at any teething problems that we would have and then roll it out. But unfortunately, like everything that has happened since I've been principal, anyway, the special school principals are never listened to."
