Cork has seen a 22% reduction in the number of households on the social housing waiting list in 5 years
There are now nearly 2,000 fewer households on the waiting list in Cork city and county compared to the first annual assessment conducted in September 2016.
Last year the summary of Social Housing Assessments showed 6,738 households in Cork were assessed as being qualified for, and in need of, social housing support and this figure represents a total decrease of 22% since 2016 when annual recording of the assessment began.
Commenting on the figures the Housing Minister acknowledged that 6,700 households in Cork remain on the waiting list and are relying on the State for the provision of housing support and he says the Housing for All plan aims to deliver 90,000 new social homes between now and the end of 2030 and this strong pipeline of home building activity is encouraging
