A 31 year old man has been jailed for life for the murder of Frankie Dunne.
The partially dismembered body of the father of three was found of the grounds of the derelict Castlegreine House on Boreenmanna Road on the 28th of December 2019.
Ionut Cosmin Nicholescu who is originally from Romania was found guilty of murder by a jury at a Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork on the 31st of March.
He had pleaded not guilty to the murder and denied any involvement in the killing of Frankie Dunne, whose body was found by a man looking for his missing elderly cat.
Today in court, Mr Justice Paul McDermott says the evidence presented at trial was at times "gruesome" and "distressing" in nature.
He told the court that Nicholescu had shown "shocking disrespect" to Frankie Dunne by not only killing him but also dismembering him.
Mr Justice McDermott said while Nicholescu had accepted the finality of the life sentence, he still had not expressed remorse or explained what had happened on the night in question.
Following today's sentencing hearing, Frankie Dunne's family said that he was a "kind and gentle man," who had his biological family and another family who were the people living in homeless shelters and on the streets of Cork.
