A 35-year-old man, who grabbed a teenager by her underwear as she sat with friends during her lunchbreak, has been sentenced to six months in jail for the assault.
The judge said he was guilty of "a shocking violation".
Kamil Szymczak, with an address at Chapel Hill in Fermoy pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teenager on the 7th of February.
Insp. Tony Sullivan told Judge Joanne Carroll at Fermoy District Court that the victim was on her lunch break from school with two friends in Fermoy when Szymczak and another man approached them.
He said that the girls had their backs turned to the two men.
The victim's short jumper and jacket revealed she was wearing a thong.
Szymczak grabbed the top of the thong and pulled it so that it snapped against her.
Defence solicitor, Ciaran O'Keeffe said that the 35-year-old was intoxicated at the time but did not make any excuse for his behaviour.
He said that he accepted his actions were appalling and despicable, particularly given that he was a grown man, and the victim was just a teenager.
Judge Carroll sentenced Szymczak to six months in jail for the assault, and his name is to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a period of ten years.
