A 58-year old Independent councillor from Castletownroche, who was convicted of assaulting his brother and nephew, will be sentenced next
month.
The incident arose out of an ongoing dispute over the inheritance of a family farm.
Jamie O Hara has more for RedFM News:
"Frank Roche of Ballyadeen in Castletownroche had denied assaulting his brother David, and his nephew Colm in January 2020.
However, he was found guilty of assaulting both men, and of engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting language at a sitting of Fermoy District Court last November.
The court previously heard that he has had a fractious relationship with his two brothers, David and Patrick, since they inherited their family farm from their father David Roche Senior.
Roche was accused of grabbing his nephew in a headlock, trying to pull him out through the window of a jeep and punching him, before going on to hit his brother.
Sentencing was adjourned until 25th February to allow Judge Gabbett to preside over the sentencing.
Roche, who is an agricultural contractor, represents the Fermoy Municipal Area on Cork County Council as an independent member."
