Six nursing homes and daycare centres in Cork have received grants to promote physical activity amongst older people.
The Age & Opportunity Active National Grant Scheme has distributed over €66,010 to 94 nursing homes and day centres nationwide.
Nazareth House in Mallow; Millstreet & District Housing Association; Maryborough Nursing Home; Youghal & District Nursing Home; JCP Powdermill Care Centre, Ballincollig; and Araglen House Nursing Home, Boherbue were all awarded grants.
In a statement to RedFM News, Nursing Homes Ireland said physical activity supports and maintaining the health and wellbeing of nursing home residents, whilst also promoting fun, camaraderie and happiness.
