The cost of buying a new home increased at the fastest pace in seven years, according to new figures.
Residential Property Prices rose by 14.8 per cent in the year to January, which is up from 14.3 per cent in December.
Outside Dublin, they went up by 16 per cent, while the capital saw prices go up by 13.3 per cent.
CSO figures show the median price of a home bought in the year to January was 280,000 euro.
The highest median price was in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown at 595,000 euro, while the lowest was in County Longford at 130,000 euro.
